The Problem of Travel-Related Diseases

Travel-related diseases such as canine heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis), ehrlichiosis, and leishmaniasis are difficult to detect early due to long incubation periods and nonspecific symptoms. Symptoms such as fever, fatigue, or joint pain often do not appear until late in the course of the disease, which delays diagnosis. A prompt diagnosis is crucial to preventing serious complications.
