Risks of CCV and FCoV
Coronavirus causes gastrointestinal symptoms in dogs and cats, such as diarrhea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. While the infection is often mild, immunocompromised or young animals may develop more severe cases involving dehydration and secondary infections.
With feline coronavirus (FCoV), there is also a risk of mutation into the fatal feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). A rapid diagnosis is crucial for initiating targeted treatment at an early stage.
