Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is an oncogenic retrovirus that causes an immunosuppressive, myeloproliferative, and neoplastic disease in cats. Transmission occurs primarily through direct contact with infectious saliva or nasal secretions, or through vertical transmission. A persistent FeLV infection can lead to severe immunosuppression, anemia, lymphoproliferative diseases, and increased susceptibility to opportunistic infections.
